'Ice' Pirates...

I mean... common - first : there's no water in the whole friggin galaxy ?

Ok, maybe planets and asteroids are consumed/destroyed in wars...
But water is made from Hidrogen and Oxygen - don't tell me they forgot that...
And they have both Hidrogen and Oxigen aplenty...

And also, even nicer - the "Templar" have big freighters, with whitch they transport water as ICE ???
Water, as opposed to other materials, expands when frozen... so transporting Ice instead of liquid water wastes alot of space...

Now, getting this out of the way : the movie is great :D
Really funny lines (the unforgetable dissapointed, kicked puppy voice of Jason saying "What happened to 'We rape, we pillage !' ?" :D ), nice action, some gore for the fans, and the general feeling left by the movie :D

This is a classic '80s comedy, always worth seeing... i first watched it on tv, many years ago, while just a kid - now, watching it again, i remember each and every small thing, and how much i've liked it then (we didn't have access to alot of sci-fi in my country some years ago - wasn't requested), and how much it meant to me then.
I've watched hundreds of movies since then, thousands maybe. Many were masterpieces. This is way less than a masterpiece - but i will not forget it even so.

Enjoy the movie, everyone. I would sugest with some cold beer, something to munch, and some friends to laugh with.

If you're wondering how he eats and breathes and other science facts (la la la),
Then repeat to yourself, "It's just a show, I should really just relax..."

Sorry, the first part of your post reminded me of these classic lines.

The last thing this movie was concerned about was logic.

thats like asking why there are droughts in scCal when there's plenty of o2 and 2h around....
plus its much easier to handle/transport ice than water

Not to mention that it is really cold in space.

The Water would freeze, expanding as it froze and destroying the tankers.

But I go with the 'It's Just a Show, Relax' theory espoused by an earlier poster.

Exactly my point.
If you transport by ship, fine, you load liquid and you heat it to above freezing.

Most efficient way though is to transport as ice, OUTSIDE. Pump water into space, get huge blocks of ice, strap the blocks into a "harness", then move them about wherever you want.

I know it's just a show - all SF movies are just shows, even the space operas, as most screenwriters still treat spaceships as "ships that go in space", which doesn't really work.

That's right, I like the way you kick some knowledge. We could put this in a THINGS I LEARNED FROM THIS MOVIE thread. Some examples are:

1. Even robots have soul.

2. Water is very scarce throughout the Milky Way Galaxy.

3. It is easy to stab a robot to "death".

4. Earth is also known as the Seventh World (or whatever).

Can anyone think of anymore?

It is a great classic to watch in my honest opinion and I still love to watch it when I can.
