How old was Lilly supposed to have been?

So how old were the older siblings? Are you saying that Lilly was only about a year younger than John? John couldn't really have been much older than 15 seeing as how all three older ones were in high school and it was fall (football season).

sharehm, i haven't seen the movie, actually, but i'm reading the book. in the book she's supposed to be very small for her age. is she not very small in the movie?
shareIts handled terribly. The actor who plays her at like 10 plays her as a famous grown up intellectual writer who we are supposed to assume is a "dwarf" because she hasnt grown since she was 10 year old child (nevermind "dwarves" look very different from children). The effect is the character comes off as a kid pretending to be a witty adult and its ridiculous. Especially since she has arguably the most tragic scene.
