Can anyone recommend a similar series?

I enjoyed this a lot and would be grateful if anyone could recommend a similar series – particularly something set between the First and Second World Wars, as that was the period of Heimat I enjoyed best; I would also be really interested if anyone knows of a similar series set in a city, as I'd like to see Germany in that period from that perspective too.

The series doesn't necessarily have to be German – any series that's entertaining, factually accurate, and set between the two wars (ideally in a city) would be ideal!

Not exactly the same, but R.W. Fassbinder's 'Berlin Alexanderplatz' is on the same high level as 'Heimat' - I find them two of the best series ever. It's about Berlin in the interbellum, as you wished.
