Dubbed in English?

I remember watching this as a kid and don't recall being able to speak French. Was it dubbed and I just never noticed, or was there another version?

I'm pretty sure there was a dubbed version. In school I think I saw both versions. Definitely saw the French version. Maybe I saw the English version on TV but it's a kids movie so English dubbing makes sense. The movie was pretty popular too. In English it was called "The Dog Who Stopped the War". Which isn't as good as "War of the Tuques" if you ask me.

Thanks, I managed to find the English version and you're right, you're better off sticking with the French original even if you can't understand a word of it. The dubbing is so out of sync and jarring it makes you want to tear your ears off. I can't believe it didn't bother me as a kid.

In elementary school they made us watch this in French class (in French of course), our teacher wouldn't put on an English dub. French was easily my worst subject, I couldn't grasp it to save my life, but any time they brought out the TV/VCR combo I knew it was gonna be a good day.

Sometimes they showed us boring stuff I couldn't understand and I'd fall asleep, but sometimes it was 'The Peanut Butter Solution' (french dub, they must have played that once a year between grade 2 and grade 6) or episodes of 'TeleFrancais' or in this case 'The Dog Who Stopped The War'.

To this day I never seen this in English (or 'The Peanut Butter Solution' for that matter) but it doesn't even phase me. They were well enough made children's movies that even without understanding what anyone was saying, I could always still follow along and understand everything that was happening.
