dvd?

Was this movie ever released on DVD or was it copied from VHS?

reply

It was released on VHS in 1985 by CBS/Fox. I don't know if it is still available. My children used to watch my copy at least twice a day when I bought it in 1985. They are now in their late 20's and early 30's and still ask about it. I tell them I will not part with it.

I have this movie on both DVD & VHS. It was released in the UK on DVD in 2003 on a company called "Pegasus" at mid price. The cover has completely changed from the old VHS release. Gone has the rather disgusting looking Garth Fitzpatrick on the cover of the old VHS to a cartoon drawing of all the main characters spray painting a car on this new DVD release. Special features include Interactive Menu, Scene Selection & Movie Stills. I bought the original VHS release for the fact that my favourite band SPARKS composed the whole soundtrack.

My dad rented this movie when I was about eigh years old. We tore off the the little tinfoil sticker that they used to put on Vhs tapes so we could copy it. I love this movie. The scene in the bus stop is priceless. They set off the sprinkler and everyone starts making out. It makes no sense, but ti is so beautiful. I would make a movie just like this one.

I realize that this is a reply from something that was posted about two years ago, but I have to try anyway. I'm still trying to find this movie on DVD ...I'll even take it on VHS. I watched it when I was about 8...here I am 20 years later and I still love that movie...do you still have your copy or do you know where I might be able to get one? Nicole

a great copy is available from www.kultflixxx.org too, with artwork to boot.

I just ordered one off Amazon.com. They have quite a few used copies for sale. For $10, it's worth a shot. I absolutely loved that movie as a kid, and I know that, next time I talk to my sister, if I go "TALLY HO! TALLY HO!" she'll be able to finish the line.

I haven't seen the movie since 1994, and that was just randomly catching it on cable, at a motel, at 2:00 in the morning, while we were moving. I can hardly wait 4 to 14 business days.

Bit of an old thread, but I saw at least two UK (R2) releases: a single release & a triple-feature "Megapack" including the film along w/ "Wacko" & "Fraternity Vacation." Although I see on eBay that the single release is listed as only being 82 minutes long (presumably the triple is, too). My Thorn-EMI (US) video release show it @ 85. I wonder what 3 minutes they cut out of the UK version?

reply

Actually, almost all UK versions of movies run a few minutes faster, since
they transfer the films at 30 frames per second, as opposed to 24 frames
per second. Theoretically it is because of a difference between NTSC and
PAL with removing the flicker that happens when transferring from film to
video, but with digital technology it seems just stubberness in doing it
the right way.

Thanks so much and God Bless,
