all of those are based on how they stand as movies. this is the order i love to watch them in:

1. Return of Godzilla
2. Godzilla vs Biollante
3. Godzilla vs SpaceGodzilla
4. Godzilla vs King Ghidorah
5. Godzilla and Mothra
6. Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla II
7. Godzilla vs Destroyah

i know these lists don't make sense, but ill try to explain:

the heisei series is my favorite of the 3. i love all of the movies (compared to the others where they have a few that just plain suck). i think my love of return and biollante are my favorite because of the humble beginnings they have to them. biollante was a direct sequel to return. after that, they can be seen in order after mechagodzilla II. king ghidorah and mothra are stand-alone films in this series universe. spacegodzilla, while very flawed, was enjoyable, godzilla was facing his equal, a space clone. the movie wasnt very good, but the concept was cool. king ghidorah, while it was a good movie, is over-hyped i believe, and it messed with the whole timeline (which effected spacegodzilla and destroyah even though they ignored the change to the timelines, so certain events shouldn't have happened), but i still enjoyed the film. Mothra was great, because, while the humans weren't very interesting, the whole "mothra vs battra" element was incredible. pretty much, godzilla got caught up between two other fighting forces, pissed them both off, so they did the whole "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" type thing. it really had a bittersweet ending for me. mechagodzilla II, was enjoyable. this is one of those instances where i dont really know how to explain why i feel the way i do. i like the movie, but i cant say i enjoy watching it all too often. i think once the psychic kids show up, and play a major role in the baby's actions, is when i kinda move off, but the action is still awesome. and finally, the last film: destroyah. while many people enjoy it, it depresses me. not one instance since godzilla was dying from the oxygen destroyer in the first film, did i feel depressed during a godzilla film. the whole time, i knew the big guy was gonna die. i know the action is good, and for once godzilla would have full-out lost without man-kinds help, but since the beginning, we knew he was going to die, no matter what the humans did. yes, destroyah was awesome, but it just felt weird watching a movie where we knew how it would end. that and i didnt enjoy the human characters @ all.
