My first Godzilla movie!

Saw it in the 2nd grade. Who else?

The IMDb boards deserve a better class of poster, and I'm gonna give it to 'em...

This was my first Godzilla movie as well. I was about 5 or 6 years old and big into dinosaurs. I saw the VHS cover in the video store and insisted that my mom rent it for me. This film changed my life and introduced me to the world of monsters, and I have been a lifelong horror and Godzilla fan ever since. I still think this has the best special effects, Godzilla suit, and models of any Godzilla film before or since. I hope that this monster classic is revived on DVD soon, with both the original Japanese version and the American version. I know many Godzilla fans are critical of the 1985 version, but Raymond Burr and the Dr. Pepper product placement add to the enjoyment, not to mention the Bambi vs. Godzilla animated short at the beginning. I have kept and treasured my VHS copy, but I would love to see this in widescreen with remastered picture and sound.

Mecha, how is your vhs copy holding up? Mine is worn out from playing a couple times to many or age, but it is still fun to watch. I want to replace it with a DVD anyway, because that will last for a couple of decades without losing picture quality.

I think this may have been my first. Either this or GODZILLA, KING OF THE MONSTERS.

But I did see this when I was a kid, I rented it a bunch of times. I may have been between 8-12 years old.

Just saw this for the first time today. All I'd seen was GINO before, so this is my first proper Godzilla film too.

I enjoyed it a lot. I only wish it were longer, giving the scenes more time to breathe.

Those giraffes you sold me, they won't mate. You sold me queer giraffes.
