Does anyone else think this movie is criminally underrated.

I adore this film, and grew up with Godzilla, and saw practically all the Godzilla movies growing up. The original is still my favorite, but this one is second by the slimmest of margins. The look, the music, hell even the story, (though basic) is great, and I watch this one as much as the original.

The vs. movies are fun, but my personal preference is when Godzilla is the punishment for mankind's mistakes, more so than earth's antihero defender against other monsters. Yes many of the effects don't hold up great today, but that goes for most of the Toho Godzilla films. So does anyone else feel this way, what made this film great for you if you're a fan.
