Remake

I think one of the big problems with the whole remake craze in Hollywood is the fact that they try to remake films that are pretty well known, were pretty sucessful, and are already pretty well spent/captured on film. Having said this, I always liked the effort to remake not so well known stories. I think a big budget gory remake of this film might be rather good. Perhaps, they could make the bear suit look less cartoonish and more like a real bear. Furthermore, maybe they could have a score in the Carpender-Manfredi-Bernstein style create a new twist for the ending.

is nothing sacred anymore?

there are many slasher movies, but not enough if you ask me, and if theres anything i dont want more, is more remakes of my favorite films. and the fact that not too many people know about these underground films, keeps them sacred..sigh..

I'm glad some of these films are lesser known, they stay under Hollywood's remake radar.

I was just watching this lastnight and I was thinking about how cool it would be if it saw a remake. Not one of those horrible remakes they've been putting out recently but an actual decent remake. The script of this movie is far above most slashers from this era. What more could a slasher fan ask for when seeing a group of girls getting picked off by an unknown killer during a scavenger hunt? I just wish it was shot with a bigger budget back in the 80's so people like me wouldn't have to ask for a remake.

Yes! fanqarm is expressing my thoughts on the matter totally. This movie has a good concept but could have been better acted (Hal Holbroke goes through this looking like he is bored and disinterested) and better production values. The film could be made much more gory in a remake and the bear costume could be made more real like and less cartoony. Humans have an evolutionary predisposition to fearing big preditors.

I thought the bear costume was creepy, it's not supposed to look like a real bear since it's a mascot costume.

Yes, but not to people walking around in bear suits, no matter how realistic the bear costume it will look like a person walking around in one...Like I said the mascot outfit works because its just that a mascot outfit, using a realistic bear suit would look far more silly than the one used.

The movie could be improved on in a remake, for example Julia Montgomery is apparently playing the main character yet she only encounters the killer briefly and its not even an attack scene, but aside from the weird bear costume, the movie is pretty cliche. It's just young people fooling around and sluts getting killed. The ending is kind of just a rip off of PSYCHO, isn't it?

A remake would be an almost completely different film, and might-as-well be called a sequel. I hate it when "remakes" are nothing like the original but call themselves remakes.
