I'm a HUGE fan of "Ghostbusters II" (1989). Am I alone in the universe?

To me it was a top notch sequel.
The brilliant sci-fi was in there.
The supernatural villain, very unique and original, was in there. Vigo is an icon of the Eighties.
The character-arc was in there, showing the Ghostbusters years later since their biggest mission, now far from their "heyday" and virtually forgotten by almost everyone, older but still able to save the world.
The comedy was in there.
The direction and the special effects were great for the time.

I love this sequel. I love it so much. It's an underrated classic, and AT THE TIME it was a huge hit.

Am I alone?

I've always liked it too.

I may have seen it first.

I definitely watched it way more growing up, since that's the only one we owned, recorded off ABC in the early-mid '90s.

I think I saw GB2 first as well. I think I watched the cartoon first because I remember seeing GB2 in the theater and thinking, "Oh OK, this is the "real" Egon!" Lol

Typical 1980s/90s, uninspired sequel:

It's pretty much the same movie as part one, but with a much weaker villain and a cheesier finale.

It was exactly the same as the original, except disappointing. I think fans who were introduced to the Ghostbusters via the cartoon may like it more than those who watched the original movie first. Different strokes.

I think this movie gets way too much hate. I think it's a pretty good sequel. The original film is just absolute magic. Sequel is definitely not as good but it was never going to be. The original is a one of a kind film.

I really like GB2 but not nearly as much as the original.

I'm against picketing, but I don't know how to show it. -Mitch Hedberg

I agree with you. Deserves a much higher rating on here than 6.5, but then GB1 deserves higher than 7.8
I loved GB2, Winston is given an expanded role and he's funny. The Villian is very scary, and Peter MacNicol (might have spelt that wrong) was great,
Plus the three ordinal GB's, plus Weaver and Moranis return so what's not to love. Great sequel.
