How did The Jarvis family not encounter Jason before?

Or not have Alice,Ginny or Chris run to their house for help.

It's a big lake.Maybe they they didn't live anywhere near the camp.

reply

Is it really? The lake and surrounding area is always being portrayed differently, it always seemed kind of small to me, especially in this one, but I haven't watched it recently enough to be sure.

reply

I know. I get having different filming locations for all the movies, but the lake really seems to vary in size. We are supposed to believe that it's big enough to hold a few different summer camps, several homes, plus have a waterway that leads to New York.

I think my biggest issue with the portrayal of the lakes in these movies was in part 7 where Jason is submerged near the homes, when Tommy dumped him not too far from the last camp. But I guess if Crystal Lake is that big, there might have been currents to move him around?

"But I guess if Crystal Lake is that big, there might have been currents to move him around?"

The current not only moved him around but also changed the clothes he was wearing when he first went under!

reply

It does appear to be a magic lake doesn't it.

Lol

Maybe the rock was too strong?

reply

I am pretty sure Part 3 didn't have Crystal Lake in it. It was on a farm and there was a pond instead of a lake.

reply

Maybe they never went near the camp. Jason really seemed to have staked out that territory until part 3 when the heat was on.

How many days, years, etc. are supposed to have pased been Parts 2,3, and 4?

reply

Part I: 1979, as verified by Pamela Voorhees' gravestone in Part IV.

Part II through Part IV: 1984, which means the events occur 5 years after Part I; and these three sequels all take place over the course of several days.

Part V: About 1989 since Tommy Jarvis was 12 in Part IV; he's around 17 in Part V.

Part VI: It depends on how old Tommy is when he's released from the mental hospital. If he’s 18, it would be 1990; if he’s 22 it’d be 1994.

Jason must have given himself a haircut between II and III.

reply

Even Tarzan periodically cut his own hair with his knife in the jungle, according to ERB. I assume Jason would be no different, mentally handicapped or not.

reply

Well, it's just that in the flashback of Chris' encounter with him in Part 3, he is bald and doesn't have a beard either. And that took place before the events of Part 2. Then again they sort of had to change his look every movie or the production of them would've been delayed.

reply

Dude grabbed a quick shave.

reply

Maybe the Jarvis family weren't as outdoors-ey as they seem..

reply

I guess it's implied that Camp Crystal Lake is at on end of the lake (which is evident in the first movie), and the Jarvis house is at the other end. In the 2nd film Jason doesn't start killing the new counsellors until after the two kids trespass on his land (and the cop investigates). So they made the first move, provoking him into retaliation.

It's less clear-cut in Part 3 though. After Jason wakes up in the cabin he seems to wander around until he finds Harold and his wife at the general store. I'm not sure where this is in proximity to the lake...

But anyway, for the years prior to part 2, 3 & 4, I think it's believable that Jason just never wandered that far along the lake to come into contact with the Jarvis household.

reply

Crystal Lake is a giant lake and Camp Crystal Lake is one of the many camps or homes on it

reply

R u implying becuz the 2 kids n part 2 were nosy, jason started killing more and more people n camp crystal lake?
