That's the only thing that bothered me while watching this short.. Who throws a ball out on the road for his pet to go and retrieve?? Yeah most kids don't know any better, but neither does the dog. Hopefully Tim makes his death a little less contrived this time around..

That was the first thing that struck me while watching it. It's almost like the kid is going out of his way to kill his dog.

I think Burton feels the same way now, as Sparky's death is handled much better in the remake.

And indirectly, it is the fault of Victor's father in the movie.

In the remake? That's kind of a stretch to put any fault on anyone for what happens in the remake. I mean, it's just bad luck in the film. It's not like Victor's father can keep his son (and dog) in a bubble.
