Harry Grey - HG - Mercury

Did anyone else pick up on the fact that HG - Harry's initials are the symbol for Mercury? Think this was intentional? Mercury is the element of crime - opaque, dense, utterly poisonous. I loved the movie. Anyhow - thought this idea might be of interest.
