Just watched this for the first time and WOW

It was really bad. Was it a hit in its day?

Do you think all 80's movies are bad? I'm just assuming you're 18 or younger. I was born in '86 and love the 80's/early 90s. You just had to be there to understand and appreciate it I think... Not saying I really experienced the 80s at age 3 but I grew up watching 80s movies as it wasn't that long ago then. I love Footloose

I grew up watching and loving a lot of 80s films as well. But there are a lot of popular 80s teen films I didn't care for and this is one of them, Dirty Dancing is another. I just liked the soundtrack to this film tbh.

What do you think is bad about it? I love it because it's a cute spirited film about standing up for what you believe in.

It grossed 10 times what it cost to make, and that was just in the US. I guess that's what the accountants would call a hit.

I sort of see it as one of a clutch of kids-love-to-dance genre flicks that sprouted up during the mid 80s, along with Dirty Dancing and Shag (I kid ye not!).

Sure beats the garbage they call movies these days. I will bet you liked the remake.

It's very cheesy but it was an enormous hit. It came out when I was in high school and my friends and I all thought it was awesome! lol

The soundtrack was amazing! Wasn't it the most successful movie soundtrack till dirty dancing came along?

What about Saturday Night Fever?

SNF was a far, far superior film. Films from the ‘70s are so much better than ‘80s when there was so much commercialized rubbish, like this feckless fluff.
