Why did the butter melt? *mild spoilers*

When Charlie and her dad were at the farm and the government agents approach, Charlie gets so upset and nervous that the room temperature rises (according to the thermometer it rises to 80 F and above. The butter melts and sizzles as the temp approaches 85 F. But why would the butter melt like that at 80 F??? It may get a bit soft, but it wouldn't melt!

"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus."
"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."

I don’t think why the butter melted at a certain temperature was important. It was mainly just to illustrate that Charlie was getting upset, and the room was heating up. Hence, the old man was sweating, the thermometer was rising, and the butter melted. The butter was probably just for dramatic effect.

When the hurly-burly's done. When the battle's lost and won.

Perhaps her power doesn't emanate from her in one big gust. Maybe multiple "streams" shoot from her and not necessarily with equal intensity. In other words, perhaps the butter got a concentrated, heavier dose than the room as a whole.
