why is this banned in Norway?!

i don't know why but i laughed my balls off when i read that!

Nudity?

Can't think up a clever sig, so this is what you get.

It`s an old ban! 21 years old! This movie is not banned anymore. In the 80`s Norway had a very strict censorship but today almost everything is allowed.

Norway was just trying to protect it's people from Joe Don Baker.

reply

Wise of them....very wise.

"Norway?" "Censorship?" You're kidding, right?

Do some research already before jumping to conclusions. That was ages ago. Those two words are highly incompatible today. Norway's more like British TV. Cuss words are left in, uncut and uncensored shows are aired here no problem, and parents have the presence of mind NOT to put their toddlers in front of the tube during Sunday's 9 PM airing of Die Hard, expecting the TV to automatically edit out any parts not suitable to their fragile existence. US networks could learn a lot from the practice; THEY'RE the ones still in the stone age.

Because it sucks.

On a tangent, this is one of the few films covered by MST3K that obviously had swearing edited dubbed out, especially near the start. Most of the other films were either PG, or the sweary sequences were edited out of the film entirely. I get the impression that by the end of the series (it was one of the last episodes) they thought to heck with it.

As for the UK's attitude to censorship, bad language was still dubbed out in the late 1980s, even for films shown just after the watershed; I remember Harry Enfield parodying the awful dubbing of e.g. Aliens and Robocop with "muddy funsters" and "melonfarmer" etc.

Perhaps it was banned in Norway for portraying a pretty awful policeman as if he was a hero.

I noticed the cut out curse words watching the MST3K version last night. The characters referenced it too: "Son of a what?"

"As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster."

Why is Final Justice banned in Norway? Because the Norwegians have taste. The censor in Oslo took one look at this film, said 'My God, this is the stupidest piece of rubbish I've ever seen' and banned it. The capital's leading daily reported on this: "WISE CENSOR BANS JOE DON BAKER FILM - 'WORSE THAN A TAIWANESE DOG PORN FLICK' COMMENTS NATION'S MORAL DEFENDER".

reply

Cause they could. Hey it's ALL I can come up with folks. LOL

IMDB as of late, sold out and became like City Data and about.com, worthless bureaucrats.
