This movie saddens me

yes its about infidelity but it represents a time and an age that is long forgotten and will never be back. its a new york city or perception of a new york city I grew up in and hold close to my heart

After many years of missing this film, I finally caught it earlier this year. And although I did not grow-up in NYC, I totally get what you mean about "an age that is long forgotten and will never be back" and it saddens me too. Compared to today, those times were slow and quiet and dream-like. This film brought them back for me and, well, I miss 'em.

Yes, it's a very sad movie, because for 99% of the time, you can see just howcguilty these two people feel about having fallen in love with each other. They're not loose, they didn't actively seek other partners ever. They simply met, and realized that their respective marriages are missing the types of feelings that they found for each other. However, they never really consummated their love throughout, and then he moved away.

And, we also feel sorry for their spouses, of course. Yes, the whole movie is largely a sad one, with just little touches of humor throughout.

I know what you mean, and the book store (Rizzoli) isn't there anymore. They had to move due to the rent prices. It's insane what it costs to have a decent store front now.
