Have you seen a more 80's looking movie set in the 70's?

The movie reeks of that sweet sweet "80'sness". :)
Other than the music they're listening to, the camera, Hutton's "army bug" (car) and some clothes NOTHING looks like the 70's. ;) I love it! :)

It certainly does.

The scene were the door is opened and Hutton is there peering over his shades has the most 80's ness of any scene ever filmed

Yes I have, BEACHES (1988).

This tended to be a common issue with other 80's films, set in the 70's....SILKWOOD-83, CHRISTINE-83', AT CLOSE RANGE-85', MASK-85'. It was likely a stylistic choice, to pander to the 80's audiences. Also, I don't think at that time in the 80's, that many film-makers saw the 70's as that much different of an era, to the contemporary 80's. Now, we can look back and go hey, there were a myriad of differences that defined the 2 decades.

It did have the feel of an 80's buddy adventure.
