Fionulla Flanagan is Horrendous in this!

I used to love this movie as a kid and when I found it on DVD I was thrilled to take the chance to buy it. I didn't expect it to be anything that would still impress me... however, I figured it would be a nostalgic trip.

Turns out I enjoyed the movie just fine and all the things I loved as a kid were still great fun for me. However, the most shocking thing I discovered watching this movie was the Fionulla Flanagan was playing the mother. I loved her performance in THE OTHERS (I was hoping for some awards recognition) and she's one of the more respected actresses out there today.

So I thought maybe she would be one performer in this movie who could actually offer an interesting performance. To my surprise she was the most god awful actor in the whole thing. For one thing, virtually every line she uttered clearly had to be over-dubbed later in a recording studio. Also, every time she screamed it was the most half-assed attempt I've ever seen... merely made me laugh. Everything about her performance was terrible? What gives?
