Sequel to The Mechanic?

It's hard not to notice a striking resemblence between Holland and Arthur Bishop from a previous Charles Bronson movie, "The Mechanic", which he did 12 years earlier. Of course they are both played by the same actor, but its a safe bet that had Bishop survived in "The Mechanic", he would have aged into what Holland was.

Perhaps if Bishop did live, maybe the script would have called for this vintage Bronson character to keep the same name.

I think this and "Death Hunt" were the best Bronson-1980's flicks, which is typically known as a decline-decade for him. Spanning over his whole career, I think was a nice little sleeper movie that typically goes unnoticed. Holland and the villans were nasty, the car chase was awesome, the only problem was the ending which could have been a little more exciting. But overall I got no real complaints.

I always took it that Arthur Bishop did die ... but it would have been a good tie in for us die-hard Bronson fans, if somehow Holland was indeed Bishop.

Then again, I'm sure some fans would feel cheated if indeed Holland had been Bishop.

You know, the first time i saw this movie, for some reason i made the connection to The Mechanic too! I guess it´s kind of similar character.
For me, Arthur Bishop did die, but is a good idea the one the OP told...

Prostitute: What the *beep* are you doing?
Johnny: I'm gonna kill a bunch of people.
