Titanic *spoiler*

I saw this movie the other day and nearly fell off my chair. I am not accusing James Cameron of plagiarism, but that shot below decks with the white woodwork and wood doorways, water pouring down stairs, and the floating tables and dishes...or about to float anyway...it was so similar. It makes sense in any event. You can only shoot a hallway from so many angles, water always pours through a ship, and ships of that era had that beautiful white and wood look to them.

So I believe instead that both artists were inspired by the Titanic, and that there is a shared unconsciousness in this life. It is possible that earlier Titanic or ocean disaster films also had these aspects to them.

It just amazed me (NOT MALICIOUSLY) how often people have the same vision as well as their own. I suppose this is how we all communicate and are fortunate to create memorable works. We "see" with some same inner eye. I think it's great.

We also noticed the similarities. The nice thing though is that this film will be modern forever (because of the deliberately 'flawed' appearance), whereas Titanic already looks a bit old. It's funny how a masterpiece is revealed 25 years after it came out.

Yeah, I guess, for some reason I thought DiCaprio was inspired by Il Count di Bassano, mainly because it´s a very romantic character, although Miss Winslet could be the wife of Sir Reginald, well.

Interesting thoughts. So Cheers to all!

I would also add that both films open with a sepia toned silent film like sequence.
