Reboot coming

I heard a reboot is coming. I read all the books, saw the original movie, big fan.

Anyone know any details?

WTF?

So far all that's known is that Legendary pictures have won the rights to Dune for both movie and TV and that they're in talks with Arrival and the upcoming Bladerunner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve to direct.

Please refer to it as a new adaptation and not as a "reboot".

Reboot implies making a new film based off of an old film - generally throwing in a series of ridiculous added things to "leave their mark" and/or to try and make it seem new and better. Those films are rarely good.

However, if this new Dune film will try to do a good job of adapting the epic source material, it's a new adaptation... definitely NOT a rebooot.

The only detail I know leads me to a question : do Dune fans trust the project knowing that the company that bought the rights is owned by a mega-giant Chinese corporation ?

Not that the Chinese can't make good movies, I worry about censorship of the government: is worrying about that out of place ?
