Dreamscape trivia: Ninja poster in Tommy Ray's room

Hi all,

Every time I see this movie, I want to know what movie the black and white ninja poster in Tommy Ray's room is from.

There's a fake looking Bruce Lee poster, and then the black and white poster with red kanji.

I'm a collector of vintage Japanese movie posters, and this one is so iconic. Would love any help finding it!

Thanks

Could have been made just for the movie.

Good luck on your search!

Let me know if I'm on your ignore list.
Thanx!

I am going to try and find a better image, so I can try and translate the words. If you find one first post it here.

My best guess is that it's a promotional poster for Sho Kosugi's Enter The Ninja (1981), but I have yet to find an exact duplicate of the image.

This one is quite similar though: http://www.listal.com/viewimage/1224016

You are correct, the kanji is exactly the same, so that's the movie poster, most likely the Japanese one. I couldn't find the exact one either, but I just did a quick search. I thought it looked like a Cannon release!

Thanks so much for your help! Much appreciated.

Now to set some saved searches on eBay! :D

No worries, that was much less time than I spent trying to identify a 1958 Japanese magazine cover. I think I spent 5+ hours trying to translate that and figure out what it was. Turns out it was a Japanese S&M magazine that was started in 1956.

Wow! That sounds pretty amazing. Did you just ID it or did you find a copy of it?

reply

A friend found a copy online of the cover, he posted it on facebook, and there was a debate on if it was Chinese or Japanese, as they use many of the same characters. Then the debate on the name and what it was, an ad for a movie or a magazine, etc etc. I did find a place that does sell them sometimes, but I am guessing they are pretty rare. I am trying to collect LESS stuff, not more, I have more than enough stuff in storage to last a lifetime.

Haha, I know the feeling! Well thanks again and good luck with the collecting habit :D
