Saw this film years ago ,however my tape ran out 20 minutes from the end , never have known anyone else that has seen it , has not been on TV since to my knowledge, please can anyone summarise the ending for me?

i also remember this movie from when i was 5 or so,and i mainly remember the train scene as well...i haven't seen this movie since i was a child but for some reason i never forgot about this movie.
shareThe movie actually ends with Jane Fonda's character cutting up the unfinished cherry wood sculpture into smaller pieces for the 'whittlin' of small animals so she can sell them to the art teacher's friend (an interior decorator). She then sells the car, buys a better truck, picks up her husband from where he is hiding out after the union fight and they all drive back home to take over her parents farm after her father's death.
As I said in another thread, that although I love this movie, the ending does not sync with the incredible book, which I think is even better, by Harriet Arnow, I highly suggest reading it.
