Arrow Video Release

I suppose I ought to mention right away that the climax of Crimes of Passion sees Anthony Perkins, wearing (once again) a wig and dress, and (for the only time in his filmography as far as I know) stabbed to death with a steel vibrator. This is neither the best scene nor even the most outre, but it does act as a precis of the film as a whole, which, at its intermittent best, is a well-made and very funny take on the pre-AIDS sex-panic thriller. Crimes is primarily a survey of the strange paths people will follow in the quest for sexual fulfillment, but it refreshingly regards even the most extreme of these with a kind of amused puzzlement, instead saving its real ire for those who opt out of the search completely or, even worse, sublimate their passions into truly anti-social ends. http://www.cutprintfilm.com/blu/blu-ray-review-crimes-passion/
