Incredibly similar to The Farmer's Wife...

If you haven't seen it check out the PBS special "The Farmer's Wife" on dvd. It was a great six plus hour documentary from the mid 90's about a family in Nebraska trying to save their farm.

The reason I posted this here is because of how amazingly similar these two films are. That is a testament to just how good Country is.

The main difference between the two is that in real life the family cars and trucks kept breaking down. Just another layer of stress for the family.

I must try and see "the Farmers Wife"...I still believe that "Country" is the best film to date that tells of the plight of the American farmer.I have been through much of Iowa where this film was filmed,no better farm land in this whole country and in the world for that matter!...just an Ag Met's opinion.

it's a great movie and strangely relevant now.

I watched the PBS series many years ago and found it to be enlightening. These people worked and struggled so hard with their farm. I recall one of the little children having an ear infection and the costs of dealing with that tipping them over the edge. It seemed like a miserable way of life.

It's a great life, but it can be a miserable living.
