What a cast!

Gregory HInes
Maurice Hines
Richard Gere
Diane Lane
Larry Fishburne
Bob Hoskins
Fred Gwynne
Nicholas Cage

& the amazing Lonette McKee, the most beautiful & talented actress never to make it to the top in Hollywood. [Why? Warren Beatty was one of her biggest fans, although considering he had every woman with a SAG card, it seemed he really, really dug Lonette.]

Lonette McKee I've always been a fan of hers now after seeing her in this I'm a bigger fan. Too bad she didn't get a better break. She should have been the next Lena Horne.

She was the first American Mulatto actress to play Julie in a revival of ShowBoat
on Broadway some years back.

When I saw this in the theatre in 1984 or 85, I probably only knew Gere (Hey! its that guy from Officer and a Gentleman), James Remar (Hey! its that badass from 48 Hrs)and !Hey! its Herman Munster!
Lane and Cage hadn't done much notable and Hines was unknown.
The new face that really caught my eye was Fishburne (of course I didn't recognize him as the skinny kid from Apocolypse).
They all had better moments and grew to be stars after this movie. Kind of like The Outsiders.
Great ensemble - but a little early.
