Rated PG lol

Having never seen any of the Conan films before (besides the remake), and having heard how 'kid-friendly' this was, Im pleasantly suprised how violent this is so far. Being that Im only about 25 minutes into the film, ive seen people getting stabbed and impaled (resulting in buckets of blood), a beheading (with blood), and Grace Jones' a$$. Sure, the movie has a fair amount of silliness, but its definitely more violent than what others have led me to believe.

Having heard the original was miles ahead, I thought id watch this first, as to lower my expectations. So far, this film is awesome lol.

Ive been on an 80s sword/sorcery binge, amd this is 3rd on my list. So far...

1. Masters of the Universe (pure cheese, pure awesome).
2. Excalibur (my new favorite film, pure poetry).
3. Conan The Destroyer
4. Conan The Barbarian
5. Legend
6. DragonSlayer
7. LadyHawke
8. Willow
9. Red Sonja
10. Krull
11. Highlander

On a side note, Id appreciate if anyone has any recommendations. Ill probably do a 90s sword/sorcery binge after this, seeing that the doc put me on bed rest till April :(

Nice! Will definitely add to the list! Thank you

Also, don't forget Clash of the Titans, one of my favorites. Time Bandits covers many genres, but sort of fits too.

I dont know why Clash of the Titans isnt on my list. It is now :) Thanks again

Well this was probably before the PG13 rating was in effect. '80s movies typically had more of an edge to them compared with later decades, even family films from the period had something of a dark undercurrent.

reply

Yes, that was before everybody got so over-sensitive about everything. In those days we had thicker skins and we were made of tougher stuff.

reply

Well I think it was just easier for movies to get away with stuff since they only had what, 4 ratings at the start of the decade? G, PG, R, and X wasn't it?

reply

Heck, in those old G movies, they were even allowed up to 3 nip slips and two uses of the word Fuck or Fuckleberry.

"You know, for kids".

The Lou Ferrigno Hercules movies. Both are pure 80s cheese.
