I see that this is an old post but I'll reply anyway.

Definitely see Conan the Barbarian as it is the quintessential sword & sorcery film. Conan the Destroyer is DRASTICALLY different (as well as inferior) in tone and substance when compared to it's predecessor. It's a fun throw away Schwarzenegger film but in no way does it provide you with the same richness and grandeur that Conan the Barbarian does. Even though Destroyer is a watered down, silly, and disappointing followup to Barbarian it's still miles ahead of the dreadful new Conan the Barbarian with Momoa.

I guess the best way to put it is this...Conan the Destroyer is like masturbation without the payoff...whereas Conan the Barbarian is a threesome with two of the hottest women in the world...Watch Destroyer if you've enjoyed the original but don't expect much out of it.

if you're a conan fan and an action/adventure movie fan, than go right ahead :-)
