This movie is a great example of what studios used to be able to put in movies... How often do you see movies where adults try to:
1. Shoot a kid
2. Stab a kid
3. Drop a kid from a high ledge
4. Run a kid over with a van
5. Blow up a kid
Just awesome. And it was PG!

And Davey had to kill a guy! That's pretty hardcore for an 11 year old or however old he's supposed to be.
Also, it's fun to travel back to the 80's when airport 'security' was nonexistent. The old guy has the xray people hand check his bag because he doesn't want to send it through that "electrical doo-dad". If you even hinted at that nowadays you'd be shot on sight. And Kim, the little girl, is walking around the airport with a bomb beeping in her backpack that doesn't seem to arise any suspicion.
I see other people on these boards ripping this movie apart and I don't get it. It is what it is, a typical 80's movie for kids with an imagination. I loved it when I was younger and it made perfect sense at the time. Watching it as an adult is fun for the reasons stated in the above post. There was a real element of danger that made it so exciting for me. It seems the kids' movies of today are far more gentler with nary a hint of real danger for the young leads.
They sure don't make them like they used to.

Man, I remember this movie when I was only 7 years old and it was shown only once on t.v. I'm going to find this movie again on amazon or ebay.

shareThey could NEVER make a movie like this today, it's too kickass, and today they would be all PC of you can't put kids in REAL jeopardy, no way in HELL you could have a kid kill somebody even if it IS in self defense, and NO WAY IN HELL an 8 year old girl would be running around the city by herself going to the airport at midnight. Everything that makes the movie great is everything they would gut out of it today.
