Nancy based on Dr Laura

Years ago I had a conversation with Tom Leykis, before I knew who exactly he was. We were talking about the "Choose Me" and he said he worked with the woman the character Nancy was based on. This was the first time I heard of Dr Laura Schlessinger. I've never been able to verify this as fact, but it makes you watch the film in a completely different light.
