Surprised

I'm surprised there aren't more posts for this excellent movie. I don't know how it got by me, but i just saw it today for the first time and found it captivating... Excellent movie. And Leslie Ann Warren was, is, and will always be one of the sexiest women on film.

Just a note. Somebody said the Keith Carradine character was a liar. Maybe I missed something, but i thought that when the radio sex woman was looking through his things, everything Keith said, was proved in the scrapbook or other personal items.

Yes. In fact, maybe that's why he got captured as a spy. How can you be a good spy if you are compelled to tell the truth!

I agree. This deliciously sly, sexy and stylish treat deserves a lot more attention and acclaim that it receives on its IMDb web board. Lesley Ann Warren was indeed superb in this film. Ditto Genevieve Bujold and Keith Carradine. The beautifully glowing neon-lit cinematography and the throbbing sensuous voice of Teddy Pendergrass on the soundtrack are likewise terrific.

Choose Me has been one of the small handful of my all-time faves ever since I saw it in 1984. I was in LA on business and had never been to the theater before (or since) and took longer to find it than expected. Got there late and bought a ticket and noticed it was for the next show instead of the one already playing. Was told that if I bought a ticket for the current show that I could not stay for the next show. Did it anyway. Theater was almost empty, and by the end I knew how much I liked it, went to the restroom and back to the screening room and watched the whole thing. No one bothered me. Saw it in my home city a couple of years later (in a theater which folded a few years after) with my wife, the only time she ever saw it. She died last year, and tonight was the first time in over 20 years that I've seen the film. It's just as magical as it was then.

Yeah, people get confused because in the opening scene someone at the hospital says "Mickey tells lies, that's basically all that's wrong with him", and there are other references to this through the movie. The joke is that in fact he is fooling everyone by telling the absolute truth at all times - most particularly the people at the hospital, who assume his stories are grandiosity. Yes, the revelation when Ann/Nancy goes through his suitcase is that not only is everything he says true, but he's carrying the evidence and could prove it to anyone at any time if he cared to do so.

You have perfection about you. What delight! Your eyes have music. Come on and choose me, baby. I want to marry you. Let it fly in the midnight sky. Is that a yes? Choose me baby, choose me baby, choose me baby.
