Memories and lies

Saw this on mushrooms in San Francisco during its original release -- it had gotten a great review in the SF Chronicle. It was a time when I went to almost any obscure film (I also slept on the roof of the SF Art Institute a lot, went to the student Cinemateque showings, hit the Fab Mab, fantasized about bangin' Deborah Iyall)I could and this was a keeper -- I've never forgotten it. I watch it every few years. Damn, it's sexy. The bar, the neon, the music, the dames. Awesome. Leslie Anne Warren is completely hot, and Rae Dawn fey and sexy too. I even get a little excited thinking about Genevieve Bujold. Great casting. If I could be one character from film, I do think I'd be Mickey -- Carradine was so cool and funny and bad-ass. And that's the truth...

Hey, I'm with you. This film is superb, sexy, delightful, worthy of multiple viewings. Masterpiece! Mickey is a fascinating character, especially because of the film's setup, how we are meant to misunderstand him, but slowly grow more and more intrigued. I want to be Mickey too! Bujold is my favorite of the girls. Maybe I just like the sexually latent lady thing. But the other girls are amazing too. Warren's face is especially expressive.

I guess I will say it again...

MASTERPIECE!!!!

I feel exactly the same way. This movie has never gotten out of my head. I fell for Keith Carradine just like the women in the film did.

The music was great, super cast, direction was great, writing fine.

I've seen it many times and it never fails to just blow me away. Damn!
