Was this the cannonball run where JJ convinces a bunch of cops that Sammy Davis JR and Dean Martin are communists?

Nope. I believe that was the original. And he also BS'd the cops they were parading around as priests.

No, in the first one he told some police officers that they were peados dressed as priest...quite ahead of its time considering the last few years for the church...

It's this one. At some point, Burt Reynolds character tells some armypeople that two commies are after them posing as cops. In the first one they appear as catholic priests.

It is this one. JJ gets pulled over by the local sheriff. At the same time, Gomer Pyle (don't know movie name) pulls up after a 2 year stint in the army.

JJ 'confiscates' Gomer to be their official driver to get out of the Sheriff giving them a ticket. The Sheriff gives them an escort - and JJ also tells the sheriff they are being followed by 2 commies dressed as police officers in a corvette.

Movie name for Jim Nabors' character is...wait for it....PFC *Homer...Lyle!!* And though it's hard to tell, he's dressed in period-Marine Corps "Deltas" (someone correct me if that's the wrong uniform designation).

Yes, that happens in this movie.

And in the first one they convinced the cops that Sammy and Dean dressed as priests were actually flashers that exposed themselves to the lady in the ambulance.

Definitely preferred the priest gag over the cops. (Now if only they were Methodists)
