Can somebody explain (SPOILER)
Why at the end of the movie just after A.J. Shoots Wilson in the van its front wheel goes into the drain and it explodes.
shareBecause it's a hilariously awesome moment, I'd say. Its awesomeness eclipses issues of logic or cause and effect. Offhand I can't remember laughing at any movie explosion the way I laughed at this one.
But...if you need an explanation, the sewers had been filling with gas, the manhole cover was off, something in the car set off the gas, etc.
The whole movie was enjoyable, but that last twenty minutes was just a carnival of ownage. Widowed cop owns stupid chief. John Heard has mini-breakdown, going all Michael-Moriarity-in-a-Larry-Cohen-film. Kim Griest owns CHUD with sword. Daniel Stern owns berserk nuclear commissioner with a lucky shot at oncoming van. All to the sounds of a vintage 1984 propulsive synth score?
I can't believe how long it took me to see this gem.
thanks man I had a felling the scene was typical B-movie material. but like you say the sewers were filling with gas I did have a moments thought that it was a stray spark of the van when scratched over the manhole but that's just me.
shareWait a minute there was something I missed. a few scenes before they start pumping the gas into the drains we hear Wilson saying to the cops. that the vans over the potholes filled with explosives so he tells them to WATCH TE POTHOLES. so the scene does make sense.
