Scariest movie I've ever seen.

Saw? Bring it. The Hills Have Eyes? No problem. The Burning Bed? Torture. I was terrified. Probably because this HAPPENS. Women endure this kind of treatment in the real world. I was shaking lol

I watched this movie in Debate at school today because we were discussing whether or not it's justified to kill in this situation. After seeing it, I totally understand why she would kill her husband. It was a truly terrifying and upsetting and thought provoking movie. It made me so sad. Farrah Fawcett did such a good job.

I agree. I was glad when I saw the end of the movie. I watched this after coming home from work one night and seeing it on TV. I still have not seen the beginning of the film, and I'm honestly not sure I care to. I was terrified of this movie.

I don't think that this movie would be a good topic for a debate class because it's so one sided. What was there to debate? We never really see any parts of Mickey to feel anything but negatively about him. In almost the whole movie he's depicted as a monster and she's depicted as a sweet and helpless kitten. If you only go by this movie, you will find yourself asking "what did she ever see in him?" or "Why did she ever love him?" because in the movie, Mickey has no redeeming qualities whatsoever but in reality people are not so one dimensional.

This was probably the scariest and toughest movie I have ever watched. And I am a seasoned horror movie fan. But the way Paul LeMat portrayed this character, its like he WAS Mickey! Chilled right to your bones.
And the sharp, discordant trumpet played throughout the movie only underscored the violence!
And the theme music is haunting and yet beautiful. I wish I could find it on a soundtrack somewhere.

"Didn't he discover America?"
"Penfold, shush."

I'm one of those viewers who could be very oblivious to the background music. I wasn't planning on re-watching the movie but now that you mentioned the music, I think I'm going to re-watch for the academic purpose of appreciating a technical aspect.

Usually, TV movies meant to be broadcast in a regular network like NBC are pretty much *diluted* for the broad audience. But despite that, this one is pretty hard to watch.

It's a real life horror movie, mutated by the fact that women go through this same thing every single day.

I remember my parents watching this on tv when I was a kid. I came into the room when she was being beaten up. I was shocked to see a man hit a woman. I had never seen such a thing as a young kid. It scared me. Sadly later on my aunt was beaten by a man.
