I heard she had a huge crush on Mel when making this film.She vowed to never act again.
I wonder how old she is now and how she looks like or what shes doing these days.I would have love to see her acting again.I always thought she was beautifully exotic girl.

shareI have been to Tahiti many times, and during a trip in 1998 I met Tevaite. Meeting her was not an easy thing to do. I wanted to meet her and photograph her for a book project that I am working on about Tahitian dance. At the time, Tevaite was still in Tahiti, working in the health care field. When I met her, as she approached me, I recognized her right away. She is still an attractive Tahitian, but she certainly has grown up and changed in the 23 years since "Bounty" filming took place. Despite my wishes and pleading to interview and photograph Tevaite, she politely declined, saying there "are other girls to photograph". After "Bounty" production and promotion, Tevaite gave up show biz despite many offers. I have returned to Tahiti each year since my meeting with her, always asking my contacts about her. And each year I'm told she is living a very private life and likes it that way.

She was beautiful. Really you can see why many of the men didn't want to leave. Here they were lounging about on an idyllic paradise isle having lots of sex with a bunch of nubile native hotties.
Who wouldn't prefer that to living on a boat surviving on dry biscuits and coming down with scurvy.
Well I dunno - getting back to civilization would be pretty cool, too.
