He says "Damn your hide" (i.e. damn your flesh), not height. Unless you also think that the captain's name was Blight.

Yes, and we all know that phonetic captioning is always infallible. "Damn your hide" was a very common curse in 18th and 19th century England. "Damn your height" was not, unless it was gibberish coming from the mouth of a Bedlam inmate.
