I really loved the music they wrote for whenever the girl dances in front of the window. I'm pretty sure it was Pino Donaggio, but not positive. Anyway, for the kind of music it is and the feelings it is intended to elicit, it couldn't be any better. Mysterious, moody, dreamy, with very subtle "naughty" undertones. I think the music here is trancelike.

I was watching a nature-show (about animals)in Japan about 10 years ago and was stunned when "Holly's theme" started to play in the background over the Japanese voiceover. Maybe it was some kind of inside joke (or more likely a copyright infringement that some producer thought would go unnoticed), but I certainly recognized it.
I bet that was a "what the hell was that" moment? That sounds pretty surreal, and very cool!

I was in Japan about 12 years ago. I went to the mall, which turned out to be an all-girls' mall. It was totally colorful and vivid, with these partition like breakaway walls that separated the stores. Well, almost like that. And techno pop music in every store. And each level was structured like a donut. The mall itself was like 9 levels high. It was like a dream.
Aside from the mall itself, there was this young American dude who was a total hustler. He just stood around and looked hot and available. The whole experience was kind of wild.

I don't remember that all-girl mall, but it totally sounds like something they would have in Akihabara or Shibuya in Tokyo.
There are so many weird things there I still can't comprehend, like the necktie vending machine, karaoke parlours, the "little sister" cafes, and the totally humiliating or dangerous game shows (that could never air in the US because of liability).
I remember a giant Habi-Trail building with glass tube walkways and escalators on the outside of the building that was the most amazing video arcade I had ever seen. Full-scale starfighter cockpits and mecha-robot controls, sports simulators, and virtual reality games. It was like going into the future, and I still feel like it was a dream.
Wow. I do remember there being a lot of vending machines in Tokyo, and I am thinking that not all of them were for food/drink. But I don't remember there being any "tie" vendors. That is crazy!
I definitely remember the karaoke parlors (there were a ton of them, along with a lot of smallish nightclubs), but I don't remember the "little sister" cafes (what the heck are those?) and I've seen those crazy game shows on American tv, but I was only there for about 10 days, so I didn't get to catch any of that live. I can just imagine what those video game arcades were like. A virtual Las Vegas every corner you took! You were correct when you said Shibuya! We took the subway there (it moved way, way faster than any subway I have been on, before or since) and arrived at the basement, more or less, of the shopping mall. I didn't know it was an all-girls' mall and I didn't even care because it was so dang fascinating. I think I was there for 6 hours just walking around. Like you said, it was all like a dream. I also saw the biggest Starbucks in my life. It was like two blocks wide.
