Pretty

This is probably the prettiest (or tackiest, depending on style oriented opinion) movie I've ever seen.

Firstly, you got pretty girls, Michelle and Demi, but the production is something else.

So much colour, I love their apartment, the exterior shots, everything.

Even the Matisse style opening credits give it that kind of "Unreachable Holiday" feel. You know, when you have a mental snapshot of paradise but you can't contain it because it's like lightning in a bottle. This movie captures that essence of a totally lush, tropical holiday. It's just so pretty to look at. Even the UK cinema poster has that kind of glamourous early 80's cigarette ad look to it.

I don't know who the production designer or DP is off-hand but this movie really is a triumph of style over substance, not that I dislike any aspect of the movie (apart from, maybe, Valerie Harper's gitting portrayal of Caine's wife).

This is a big Hawaiian Shirt of a movie. Dazzling, pretty and enjoyed by men in their 50's (and the rest of us).

I totally agree with you, I just love the whole visual effect of the movie.
The opening credits, the views from the airplane window, it's like so vibrant and colorful. Not just because it was the 80's, but it's just like the kind of colors and prints (like the wallpaper in the girls' room) you would expect to find in a tropical setting.
