Anyone else see the "Outdated Attitudes" disclaimer added to the beginning of movies?

When Beverly Hills Cop was aired on VH1, the opening credit and right before that "This film has been edited..." a disclaimer came on that said "“This film has outdated attitudes, language and cultural depictions which may cause offence today.”

What do you think? This has apparently been added to other films as well.

I didn't see it in this movie, but I did see it on Silence of the Lambs.

I think it is a good warning, mostly for new people that perhaps have not seen it yet.

This is what I think https://youtu.be/BCstmBw-2oU

It depicts STEREOTYPING! A big no no.

I assume the warning is referring to B Pinchots stereotypical gay character and the scenes w Murphy.

Stereotyping is one of the biggest taboos in Hollywood. Almost everything that comes out of Hollywood comes from a place that works hard at trying to dispell all known stereotyping.

Hollywood is so successful at doing this, when a stereotypical character IS seen, we become offended.

Sometimes Hollywood goes to ludicrous levels to do this. A recent commerical had a black woman/ architect/ beekeeper/lesbian as it's main person of focus.

Now THAT'S a stereotype breaker!

Bullshit. The black woman/architect/beekeeper/lesbian/ should have also been wheelchair bound with a stutter. *That* my friend is how to break a stereotype!

Stop giving them ideas!😀

reply

maybe they should just stick that label on the TV at the point of manufacture , to save them adding it to every show / film

reply

Ha.

The problem is that our attitudes today will be outdated in a few years; its a never-ending cycle.
