Breakin was a horrible movie. With a title that says "breakin", you'd think they'd have some actual breakdancing in the dam movie! There was very very little of it.

Breakin was dreadful

Breakin' was a Hollywood exec's view on hip hop at the time.

I think this film is superior to "Breakin'; more dance sequences, rawer soundtrack, and generally more down to earth. Plus, it has Saunudra Santiago; how can one go wrong?

I liked both movies. Felt like the Beat Street was about the music and the gritty NY scene while Breakin only really about the dancing.

Just a personal observation... Turbo, Ozone, Taco, etc. were great, more upright styles with popin/lockin/robotics. But I recall seeing more ground and spin moves in my neighborhood at the time, definitely like we see in the Beat Street Roxy Battle scene. The red tracksuits were A+ gear back then ha ha. Windmills also very impressive.
