Is he not a great character? He is basically a manbeast who masquerades as a mechanic.

He toned it down a bit by the time he appeared on Seinfeld for one episode

Rudy was played by stand up comedian Barry Diamond.

Great line!!

My favorite is at the beginning: "....stupid people.... (car chassis falls down around him)...Guys!! THIS is the problem with American cars!!".

Meaningful pause as he stands and raises his drink... ‘to girls with big tits’

I love the sincerity with which he delivers that line, the rest of the film he’s a total animal, except when he becomes a sneaky schoolboy as he eats all those chocolate bars, hoping the old lady doesn’t notice him - the way his face is covered in chocolate and he’s noisily going ‘mmm mm’ like he has zero self control.

One of the most committed performances ever and utterly hilarious.
