No Sex Scene for Donna/Angel?

This movie was more sanitized than Disney's 'Pretty Woman' in terms of prostitution. This movie made it look like hooking was fun! Given her age, I wouldn't have expected any nudity from Donnna. But to not show at least one compromising scene was wrong.

The acress that played Angel was Donna Wilkes and she was about 25 when this was filmed. She could of done a sex scene. It wasn't because she was too young.

reply

Well this is my opinion on this is that the writer and director of the film might not have thought about having Angel who was played by Donna Wilkes do a sex scene or any nudity at all in the film. I honestly think it would have helped out if they had done that, but they did not want to do that for this film though.

While the actress who played Angel was 24, the character was supposed to be 15. It's one thing to say a 15 year old character works as a prostitute. It's a completely different thing to actually show a 15 year old character having sex, even if she is played by a 24 year old actress.

There was a 1995 movie called kids were a 17 year old boy and 13 year old girl were having sex(no nudity was shown and I am sure the actress was about 20 or so )
Also Drew Berrymore and Brooke Shields were teens and played teens and went nude before. A lot of movies have teenage characters and they get naked(Actresses are usually in their 20s)

I have to agree with you on that, and what makes it even more weird to me is that there are scenes with nudity with other girls who are characters who are supposed to be high-school students, too, but are not prostitutes like Angel is.

The movie does make a kind of statement that prostitution is dangerous, but not because of the normal hazards associated with the profession, such as drugs and disease, but because there's a crazy killer on the loose, plus a few of her fellow students attack her. Angel is also portrayed as being too smart to have a pimp or to be fooled by undercover police.

When this movie was out, I was in high-school. Someone mentioned this movie in my drama class and the teacher said something about how terrible it sounded. Due to the lack of a sex scene with the prostitute, this girl assured the teacher that Angel never had sex with any of her customers. I was shocked that anyone would get that out of the movie.

Actually, serial killers are more common on NCIS than in real life.

Sex scenes weren't necessary for the plot, and I actually find it quite refreshing that this movie didn't succumb to gratuitous sex scenes that weren't needed (although probably anticipated by the majority of its main audience at the time). I'm sure a lot of horny teen ticket buyers at the time were quite disappointed.

reply

Well.......she was playing a prostitute! I think it was necessary for the plot.

How can the inclusion of sex scenes be gratuitous in a film about a sex worker?

reply

Yeah, not extremely realistic, she was a prostitute after all.

Saw the movie just tonight. I said to my friend, "Have you noticed that the only male nudity we're getting is from the psycho-killer, and the only female nudity we're getting is from either dead hookers or about-to-be-dead hookers?" I also predicted that we wouldn't see so much as a glimpse of nipple from Angel herself. This was before we saw Molly's classmates (but never Molly!) in the showers. I was half scared that all the cheerleaders were about to be murdered.

Molly/Angel, of course, is a wholesome girl (yes, I know) and so she can't be nude on camera.

I disagree with you, but I'm pretty sure you're not Hitler.
