I love opera and Don Giovanni is one of my favourites. So I had great expectations to watch this move. I'm deeply disappointed. Mozart wasn't a giggling moron, the personality of the Austrian people are depicted like mid class white trash americans, and the main characters seem to be extracted from an American sitcom. I can rescue the photography, the scenarios and costume. But it's nothing special

Yikes. If I wanted to introduce someone to opera (with the intent of getting to to appreciate if not like it), that piece is one I would avoid. But to each, his own.

I'm sure you're in the minority with that opinion, and just for clarity's sake, let it be known the writer of this play (and movie) is British, and the director is Czechoslovakian.
