the premise sounded god awful but it is surprisingly funny and entertaining despite itself. so yes I'd buy it if its cheap.

I can't believe there ain't more traffic on this film's board. It's an American comedy classic.
Sadly Steve Martin's films became less and less amusing as his career progressed and this is pretty much the last laugh-fest he was in. But it's a slapstick corker and has some pretty funny lines to boot.
I still used "cheap slut sex poodle" and who could forget the fabulous You may find this hard to believe, but 'fondling you' while you make pee-pee is not my idea of a good time.

No, it's rather slow and safe and predictable. Not SM's best work by a long shot.
shareCertainly wouldn`t pay to see it. The jokes are very hit-and-miss and the overall impression a mild amusement. It`s kind of a one joke movie, wrapped in some unwelcome schmaltz (even though Tomlin`s soul`s final location did not strike me as too pandering, the way it`s played). A decent enough film to kill 1,5 useless hours with, but it`s difficult to rate it above 6/10.

I haven't seen movie in decades until recently. Its weird, strange and somewhat funny. But its unique in its strangeness.
