Most memorable end credits ever???

I saw this movie when I was like eight or nine and years later I could only remember that it had the coolest ending. When I rented it a few years ago, I asked two friends if they wanted to see it and they both said how they remembered that the credits were so cool. Best ever???

Perfect Tommy's outfit changes though?

I've seen this movie probably a better part of 6 times a year for the last 20 years and I never noticed that until watching the credits on Youtube about 5 minutes ago...

Yes! So wonderfully 80's!!

reply

Yes they are. When I get my Blue Beetle costume I'm going to re-create that scene except with DC Comics characters. Coming soon to YouTube....

Dude, I sent you an IM. Please let me know if you are serious about doing this.

If all else fails, blame it on someone else.

I also love the fact that Wes Anderson pretty much recreated this for the end credits of "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou", which featured former Team Banzai member Jeff Goldblum. Had to be a reference, right? Or have I just watched "Buckaroo" too many times...

I was beginning to think I was the only one. Although I happen to know that it was one of Lou Diamond Phillips' favorite end credits as well.

I can't even put my finger on exactly why. Although the music is perfect. About the only other ending I can think of that resembles it in any way is the end credits of the original OCEAN'S ELEVEN...although oddly enough, the actual mood of the two endings are diametrically opposed.

I think the end credits show that the actors are aware that this film is tongue-in-cheek. That's why you see folks walking backwards or twirling while they walk.

My favorite is when they all walk past the "Buckaroo Banzai" graffiti and Scooter's Dad (Bill Henderson)is bringing up the rear, strutting, with his suit on and has his hat cocked to the side- almost like a drum major.

I think this is one flick you share with the kids when they're old enough.

By far the best credits I can recall seeing. Really made an impression on me, as did the rest of the film.

Yep gotta agree about the ending credits being memorable, and awesome too!

From first viewing, that 'march theme' just sticks in your head permanently, eh!!
I saw one with Uptown Girl dubbed over it (which is what they used during filming, as the theme wasn't ready at the time) and it's nowhere near as good!

I thought the ending to Life Aquatic was related to Topkapi. Either way, all three movies are good in my book.

Lol I go to youtube all the time to watch the ending credits. So cool.
