One of my favorite movies. Please ANYBODY!

I really refuse to believe that not only is there no one who loves this film as much as I do but also NO ONE who visits this board. I am not going away. I will be the only one hanging by a thread in this damned message board until further notice. SOMEBODY RELEASE AN ENGLISH SUBTITLED DVD! Regards from the far southwest suburbs of Chicago,

Jeff

*****POSSIBLE SPOILER*****

I saw the English dubbed version back in the eighties, and recently tracked it down again online.

I enjoyed revisiting it but still find the money/laundry ending baffling — can someone explain it?

reply

Sorry for the late reply. NO ONE ever stumbles in here.

SPOILERS

It is assumed (but not shown) that after the man gets his bag of money back he returned upstairs and put the money back. This is a very important point as basically Jorg (the guy who falls) gave his life for the money and Gossmann (the guy who stole the money) would have been considered a wanted criminal and would have had to live on the run. After this terible incident now Gossmann can return to his normal life.

Hope it helps.

Yay a reply!

Thank you, or perhaps I should say danke? That makes sense.

No problem! I'm just curious since I cannot find anyone on the internet who loves this movie. Are you German or American or other? I too saw the film first on the Vestron dubbed VHS. I love this movie so much I watch the German dvd without subtitles (there are none) just to watch it in widescreen.

An English language version (dubbed) was released on VHS in the UK in the eighties (and has appeared on at least one private torrent tracker).
