Mona's dog

I believe he was called Grover. What happened to him? He wasn't in many episodes, but he would pop up now and again for the first 3 seasons and was still mentioned in season 4. Not sure why they even put a dog on the show in the first place and give him to Mona, who didn't seem like a pet person.
