One of those 80's sitcoms that Eluded me...

I just never got into this one, nor Growing Pains or Mr. Belvedere and Alf. Watching in reruns I can clearly see the only reason to watch this when absolutely nothing else is on is Alyssa Milano and Kathrine Helmond.

There was a bunch, I just never understood the appeal of Who's the Boss. And I did give it a try during summer reruns on one of our local channels, hung in for the whole series...zilch.

Cosby was good, Golden Girls too. I never got into Cheers either.

That's not true. This is a good quality show. This is the kind of stuff we need back on TV.

I didn't understand it as a kid. But watching now as an adult I appreciate a lot of the storylines. Yes there are kids in it, but this was really a sitcom aimed at older audiences.

I've tried watching it but I can't get into it. But there are a lot of 80s comedies like that for me. Growing Pains, Family Ties, The Cosby Show, Golden Girls. There are some shows that started in the 70s I enjoyed but by the time they entered the 80s turned into awful shows. MASH Is a good example. Happy Days is even better. Three's Company wasn't as good as the early years but still a fun show. Married...with Children is in some ways the best comedy series of the 80s because it is so completely unPC.
The comedy series with the most laughs per episode, maybe ever, is Police Squad! which lasted only six episodes.
Another police comedy series I like is Sledge Hammer!, which lasted two seasons.
A few series I like from what I have seen, which is not much, are Barney Miller and Newhart.
A very popular series I have seen several times and hated is Murphy Brown. Candice Bergen is about as bad a lead actress in a comedy I have ever seen. She delivers her lines like she is reading them off a cue card for the first time.
